Many people who contact us have already been refused once. The good news is that most refusals point to something specific and fixable. The bad news is that reapplying with the same documents, or with "arranged" ones, makes things worse.
Schengen refusal: the ticked boxes
A Schengen refusal comes on a standard form with the reasons ticked. The ones Pakistani applicants see most:
- Purpose and conditions of the stay not justified: the itinerary, bookings or invitation did not hang together. Fix: a realistic day-by-day plan, bookings for every night and a clear cover letter.
- Insufficient means of subsistence: the money, or its source, was not clear. Fix: 6 months of steady statements, salary slips or FBR returns that match, and a sponsor's documents if family pays.
- Intention to leave could not be established: weak ties to Pakistan. Fix: leave letter with return date, proof of job or business, family situation, earlier visas used properly.
- Information or documents not reliable: something did not check out. This is the most serious ground. Only genuine documents, and an explanation of anything unusual.
- No valid travel medical insurance.
Each Schengen country sets its own appeal route and deadline, printed on the refusal. An appeal makes sense when the officer clearly missed something that was in your file; otherwise a stronger new application is usually the practical route. Apply again to your real main destination, not to an "easier" embassy: see which Schengen country to apply to.
UK refusal
The UK refusal letter explains, in paragraphs, why the officer was not satisfied, usually that you are a genuine visitor or that your finances are as stated. Most visit visa refusals have no right of appeal. Read every sentence, then answer each one with documents in a new application and a short explanation of what has changed. USA refusal under 214(b)
Most US visitor visa refusals are under section 214(b): the officer was not convinced of strong ties to Pakistan or that the trip matches what you said. There is no appeal. You can reapply with a new DS-160 and fee, but it is worth doing only when your situation or how you explain it has genuinely changed. Answers must match your DS-160. Details: USA visa and DS-160 guide.
Canada refusal
The refusal letter lists reasons such as not being satisfied you will leave at the end of your stay, your financial situation or the purpose of the visit. You can request the officer's notes through the official channels to understand the decision better, then reapply with documents that answer each point. Details: Canada visit visa from Pakistan.
Rules that apply everywhere
- Always declare previous refusals when a form asks. Embassies share and keep records; hiding a refusal is far worse than the refusal itself.
- Do not rush. If finances were the problem, a few more months of normal account activity helps more than a sudden deposit.
- Change the file, not just the cover page. Every ticked reason needs a document that answers it.
- Avoid anyone promising a visa "this time". See how to choose a visa consultancy.
How Meridian helps
Send us your refusal letter and file. We read it with you, list each reason and the document that answers it, and tell you honestly whether to reapply now or strengthen your profile first. A refusal review is part of our free case review; preparation is then quoted at our fixed PKR fees. Only the embassy decides the visa.
Roman Urdu mein khulasa
Visa reject ho gaya? Pehle refusal letter ghaur se parhein: us mein wajah likhi hoti hai, jaise bank statement wazeh nahin thi, safar ka maqsad samajh nahin aaya ya Pakistan wapsi ka yaqeen nahin hua. Wohi file dobara bhejne se wohi jawab aata hai. Har wajah ka asal document se jawab dein, pichla refusal kabhi na chhupayein, aur "aasan" embassy ke peeche na bhaagein.
